Computers and networks can be used to develop and sustain communities working at a distance. The community of learners model based on coconstructivist and collaborative ideas gives interesting suggestions how to increase the number of actors interacting around the same task and how to foster development of higher levels of thinking. Computers and networks are used to increase the number of communication partners, thus to have larger community than just one classroom. It should be taken into account that learners often see computers as tools for individual activities and forget about the collaborative aspects. Community of learners approach invites us to see computers as tools for discussions and collaborative strategies planning.
